PUBLIC NOTICES CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL ELECTRICITY EXTENSION LOAN 1963 £*oo,ooo IT IS HEREBY PUBLICLY NOTIFIED that the Christchurch City Council at a Special Meeting held in the City Council Chambers, IM Manchester street, Christchurch, at BJO pm. on Monday. October 21, 1963. passed the following resolution:— “THAT in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Municipal Corporations Act. 1954 and the Local Authorities Loans Act, 1966 and all amendments thereto and all other acts (if any! It In that behalf enabled, the Christchurch City Council hereby resolves to proceed to raise in New Zealand a loan to be known as the Electricity Extension Loan, 1963 of an amount of Four Hundred Thousand Pounds (£*00,006) for the purpose of extending the distribution system and electrical reticulation of the council's electricitv undertaking, subject to the following determinations: (1) The term for which the said loan or any part thereof may be borrowed shall be twenty years. (2) The rate of interest that may be paid In respect of the said loan or any part thereof shall be such as shall not produce to the lender or lenders a rate or rates exceeding five and one quarter per cent per annum. (3) The said loan or any part thereof, together with interest thereon shall be repaid by equal aggregate annual or half-yearly Instalments extending over the term as determined in clause (1) hereof. («) The payment of all such instalments shall be made in New Zealand and no such instalment shall be paid out of loan money. (5) The rate payable for brokerage in respect of the raising of the said loan or any part therof shall not exceed one half per cent of any amount raised. (6) No money shall be borrowed under this sanction after September 30, 1966. (7) That the security for the repayment of the said loan and the charges thereon shall be a special rate of Four Thousand. Six Hundred and Forty-one-Twenty-five Thousandths of a penny (4.6*1/2500d) in the pound (£ .0007735) on the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property comprised within the City of Christchurch.” PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act. 1956. it is hereby publicly notified that the foregoing resolution will be submitted to a meeting of the Christchurch City Council to be held in the City Council Chambers. situate as aforesaid, at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the 20th day of November, 1963. for confirmation as a Special Order. STUDY AWARDS IN ARCHITECTURE Awards for study of Architecture will be made by the State Services Commission in 1964. These awards provide excellent opportunities for students to atteend university full-time to complete the Degree of Bachelor of Architecture or the Diploma in Architecture of the University of Auckland. The awards for the Degree of Bachelor of Architecture are open to school leavers with University Entrance plus Higher School Certificate and they must have included Physics and Mathematics in their examinations. Awards open to students who have already begun University study in Architecture for either the degree or diploma. The awards are continued annually until the degree or diploma is completed provided satisfactory progress is maintained. Allowances: (1) State Services Commission Study Awards in Architecture are tenable jointly with Education Department Fees or Fees and Allowances Bursaries. (2) An allowance of £135 per annum is payable in addition to any Education Department Bursary held (3) A boarding allowance when applicable tor Fee* and Allowances bursars will be paid by the Education Department. A Fees only buraar may in special circumstances and when necessary, be paid a £5O boarding allowance for the first year of his study award. (*) A married student may receive a marriage allowance of £175 per annum tn addition to other allowances. This is reducible to £95 p.a. if the student is recleving a boarding allowance through an Education Department Bursary Applications close on November 20, 1963, with the Secretary, State Services Commission.
