CONVERTIBLE AIRCRAFT.—The Xl9 VTOL plane, under development by the Curtis Wright Corporation in the United States, which is designed to take off vertically and then attain near-jet speeds of 450 miles an hour. After take-off, the four motors are tilted forward for horizontal thrust. In landing the propellers are tilted back for vertical descent.
