GEYSER NOW QUIETER
Owner Back From Aust. (N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, November 10. There has been little activity by Rotorua's rogue geyser since it exploded in a massive upheaval on Friday afternoon and hurled about 1000 cubic yards of mud and rock over a 100-yard radius. Residents living about 70 yards away said there was one burst when mud was hurdled about 12 feet in the air, but apart from that there had only been occasional dull explosive noises caused by steam meeting the cold water of Lake Rotorua. A fresh north-westerly wind whipped up the lake on Saturday and caused erosion to the banks of the new bay. Mr S. A. L. Jamieson, who has seen it from a launch on the lake—the only effective viewpoint—said about one fifth of an acre of the property has disappeared. Broom was today placed across the bay to prevent further erosion. About 12 feet of one corner of the house is now hanging over the water. Mr W. V. Byrns, the owner of the property, has returned from Australia. He spent most his time today chasing hundreds of spectators from his section. I
