FORBURY IS 1965 VENUE

Inter-Dominion Championship The Forbury Park Trotting Club was yesterday granted permission by the executive of the New Zealand Trotting Conference to hold the 1965 Inter-Domin-ion Championship series in (Dunedin. ' The Forbury Park club was I the only club to apply to I hold the series, said Mr J. Rowley, the secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Conference. The Auckland Trotting Club made application some weeks ago to hold the series, but apparently this was withdrawn. The Forbury Park clltb intends running the series in conjunction with festival week in Dunedin. Suggested dates for the carnival are. Saturday, January 23; Thursday, January 28; Saturday,; January 30. and Wednesday, February 3. Subsidies will be offered to I owners of horses from Aus-1 tralia on the following basis: | —Western Australia, £400; | South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Queensland, £330; and New South Wales, £275. The club has advised the conference that it is prepared to erect additional grandstands of a temporary or permanent nature so that accommodation could be assured for visitors. Stakes to the value of £40,000 will be allocated for the four nights. Subsidy For N.Z. Horses A maximum of six approved pacers and trotters competing at the Inter-Dominion Championship carnival in Melbourne next February i and March will be eligible to receive a subsidy of £lOO from the New Zealand Trotting Conference. This was decided at a meeting of the executive of the conference in Christchurch yesterday. Should the horses fail to win in stakes an amount equal to the subsidy, the conference will pay to the owners the amount by which! the stakes won fall short of the subsidy.
