Company Controls Addington
The recent improvements to the Addington Raceway have been the responsibility not of the individual clubs that race there, but of a company the Addington Trotting Course, Ltd. This company was formed 11 years ago by the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club and the Canterbury Park Trotting Club. This year the New Brighton Trotting Club, which recently sold its track at New Brighton to the Christchurch City
Council and intends to race in future at Addington, also joined the company. Mr L. S. Smart, of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club, is the chairman of the directors of Addington Trotting Course, Ltd., and the other members of the board are Messrs J. K. Davidson and C. E. Hoy (New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club), H. F. Butland (Canterbury Park Trotting Club) and A. E. Laing and A. G. Jamieson (New Brighton Trotting Club). This company is responsible for all work done at Addington Raceway, and in particular for both the new stand and the installation of the facilities for the night trotting.
