Trade Party From Israel This Week
■'New Zealand Pre** Association) WELLINGTON, November 11. - m ’ ss ’ on from Israel will arrive jn v\ ellington on Wednesday, the Minister of Trade (Mr Marshall) announced tonight. - Tl ,e mission comes after the visit to New Zealand in September of the Israeli consul for economic affairs in Australia, Mr E. Matalon.
Mr Matalon is accompanying this mission which will be led by the director of the export division of the Israel Ministry of Trade and In-’ dustry, Mr E. Ezrachi. The other member is Mr IV Mopkho. director of the Israel Discount Bank, Ltd. While in New Zealand the
mission will have discussions with the producer boards, meat companies, commercial interests and Government departments. "New Zealand’s policy of multilateral trading means that our market is open to any country prepared to sell on a competitive basis,” said Mr Marshall. Israels decision to send a trade mission to New Zealand showed it was prepared to examine the New Zealand market at first hand. Israel now had, as well as its traditional citrus products, a wide range of manufactured goods available for export. The mission would be interested specially in market prospects for oranges, textiles, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and fertilisers which Israel was now exporting in increasing quantities. ‘The mission is also interested in buying New Zealand wool, meat and hides and skins. New Zealand is now sending more than £50,000 worth of wool and hides and skins to Israel each year and, with the possibility of more regular shipping between the two countries, there should be a good chance of this trade being expanded,” said Mr Marshall.
