MANSFIELD MEMORIAL
Shifting May Be Necessary (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 11. The Katherine Mansfield memorial in Fitzherbert terrace, Wellington, might have to be shifted, after a decision of the National Roads Board today. Motorway proposals approved by the board involve the closing of the Molesworth street end of Fitzherbert terrace, making it a blind road with access only from Hobson street. Two properties in the terrace. the embassies of the United States and of Germany will also have to be removed, being in the way of ramps for the proposed 4400 foot Thomdon overbridge which will run from the Kaiwharawhara stream to the Hobson street gully. The bridge, which will comprise twin structures each carrying a three-lane carriageway, will carry high over the railway yards and also over the Wellington terminal of the Picton-Welling-ton rail-road ferry.
