FALL WHILE SHOOTING

Man Walks All Night A Christchurch man spent an uncomfortable night on Saturday making his way along a creek bed in the Cooper’s Creek area, near Oxford, after he fell about 6ft into the creek bed and injured his leg while deershooting on Saturday. He is Mr John Furjan, aged 26, of 280 Manchester street. Mr Furjan went up the Wharfedale track and readied Bald Hill about midday on Saturday. He was making his way out when he fell. His injury prevented him from climbing, and he was forced to follow the creek bed, which took him away from the direction in which he wanted to travel Mr Furjan walked for most of the night and made his way out to the road. He drove home to his car. reaching Christchurch about 11.15 a m. yesterday. Mr Furjan set out from his home about 5 a.m. on Saturday and was due back about 10 p.m. When he did not return the police were alerted, and Constable G V Strong and a resident of Oxford made a search.
