Flowers and fruit displayed in silver vases and bowls should be checked 'frequently, as decaying stems and over-ripe fruit generate acids that eat into and pit silver.
Never secure wrapped silver with rubber bands. Rubber corrodes silver even through wrapping paper. The thickness of the wrapping merely slows the action. Professional silversmiths And it difficult and often impossible to restore corroded silver, especially if the Wack marks have spread across an etched surface.
