NEW MATERIALS FOR BOARDS
D. Quane Returns From Australia
The current holder of the New Zealand senior surf ski championship, D. Quane (Sumner), returned last week from a tact finding visit to Australia.
A surf board manufacturer, he gained many new ideas on the construction of surf boards and said that although designs would remaiin much the same, a considerable change in the type of materials used would be made.
Quane made the visit to Australia in order to catch up with the latest methods of surf board and surf ski construction. Production would be speeded up considerably by the use of the new materials. Whereas in the past his workshop had produced six boards in 10 days, it would now be able to produce the same number in one day and a half, he said.
