Gold Chick Trying To Complete Treble

"The Press” Special Service <.

AUCKLAND. Nov. 1

Gold Chick's attempt at his third successive big nandicap; the meeting of Hamir and Bottle Top in the Welcome Stakes; and the return of such fine gallopers as Gold Chat and Final Command should make a big occasion of the Auckland Racing Club’s mid-spring meeting tomorrow. Gold Chick is in the £2500 Alison Cup. After wins in the Mitchelson Cup and the Spring Handicap,, his success would be notable.

It is bad luck for their connexions that Bottle Top and Hamir are in the same division of the Welcome Stakes. Otherwise both would most likely Win. As it is, they should have a tough duel. Bottle Top will be trying for his third successive win

Besides Gold Chick and High Mark, the good performers in the Alison Cup include Action Packed, Pow Wow. Kumlucky. Climbing, and Pale Face.

Nicodemus (7-12) and Gold Chat 18-2) are three-year-olds in the second leg of the T.A.B double, the Cheltenham Handicap Final Command is a four-year-old with the top weight of 9-5. Gold Chat and Fipal Command have not raced since the autumn. Nicodemus has had three starts after his winter spell, and his recent racing might give him an edge on the other two.

The ground dried out and hardened during a long spell of fine weather. Showers today eased the track. Unless there is a heavier fall the going will be excellent.
