Colombo Street Ami Moorhouse Avenue

Sir,—May I ask why the Traffic Department cannot control traffic at the intersection of Moorhouse avenue and Colombo street by placing temporary islands in the middle and directing all traffic to turn left. Surely It would be simple. What is the matter with the idea? That Intersection, with its high accident incidence, has become a nightmare to those who live south of the railway.—Yours, etc..

October 29. 1962 [The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) comments: "Consideration has been given to installing a central island, but the high traffic volumes, relatively small intersection area, and adverse slope of the roadway would render it unsatisfactory. The council has decided to proceed with grade saparatim at this intersection. wihiich will involve a flyover for Moorhouse avenue traffic and traffic signal control at surface level. Design work is proceeding and sn early start on the work is anticipated.”]
