FACULTY OF SCIENCE Applications are invited for appointment in the following Departments to: SENIOR TEACHING FELLOW - SHIPS AND TEACHING FELLOWSHIPS DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS: The Department's present research interests are in the fields of modern algebra, theoretical radio astronomy, statistical inference, and stochastic processes. Appointees will be required to assist in the teaching of one or more , of the following sub--1 jects: Applied Mathematics. Pure Mathematics, and Mathematical Statistics. DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS: The Physics Departmnet provides research facilities in Theoretical and Experimental Solid State Physics. Current research projects include Low Temperature Studies. Applications of the Mossbauer Effect. Magnetism, Microwave Spectroscopy. Ferroelectricity and Structural Studies. The Department has a high output helium liquefier, a high resolution Electronmicroscope, and facilities for producing magnetic fields up to SO K gauss. DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY AND COMPARATIVE PHYSIOLOGY: This Department is well equipped for research in the following fields: comparative physiology of renal function; physiology of insect social behaviour; freshwater biology and ecology; reptilian, avian. and mammalian physiology, ecology, and oehaviour; vertebrate palaeontology. Appointed in all Departments will be required to conduct tutorials and otherwise to assist in their Depratment's teaching programme, while undertaking their own research. SALARY RANGE. Senior Teaching Fellow, £A1475-£AI7OO, Teaching Fellow. £ A 125£A1375. With superannuation on the FSS.U. basis for Senior Teaching Fellows. CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT: (a) Appointments are for one year in the first instance. renewable for a maximum of two further years, (b) An appointee and his family will, if eligible, be nominated for Government assisted passages and allowed up to £AIOO for removal expenses. Consideration will be given to paying the fares of persons who are ineligible to receive Government assistance, (c) If the appointment is held for three years, the University will meet the repatriation expenses of the appointee and his family on the basis of tourist class steamer fares and a removal allowance of up to £AIOO.
