The Christchurch Hospital took 274 pints, and other hospitals 194 pints, making a total of 791 pints. In October last year the total demand whs 730 pints, with the Princess Margaret Hospital taking most then too.

MINISTERS’ PAY RISE

Approval By Assembly

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 1. Most Baptist ministers will get more money as from next April.

After a two-hour discussion this afternoon the Baptist Assembly approved increases of up to £BO a year for all but the newest of ministers. It also approved a £1 for £1 subsidised superannuation scheme whereby a minister can receive up to £2640 after 40 years of service. At present, a married minister receives £720 a year, plus a free house and other allowances. They will now receive this during their probationary period only. Three years after probation it will be raised to £750 and then about two years later to £BOO. Under the annuity fund scheme every minister will be required to become a member, after his probationary period, and contribute £ 15 annually. His church will provide £l5 to match this.

Single ministers will increase from £586 to £612 and finally £650, excluding allowances from £560 initially to £6lO.

Home missionaries will receive the same as a married minister.
