BOMBING VICTIMS
13 Persons Dead (N.Z.P .A.-Reuter—Copyright) VIENTIANE, Nov. 1. Five more victims of yesterday’s bomb explosion at the That Luang fairground died, bringing the death toll to 13, according to Vientiane hospital reports.
Three injured died late yesterday and two more this morning.
Some other victims are still on the danger list. The bomb was thrown in the early hours of yesterday into a high corrugated ironfenced gambling compound. There were many games of chance going on and the compound was crowded with funseekers.
Eight persons were killed and 62 injured. Police investigations are continuing. It is believed there is no pohtical significance in the incident.
Experts say a fragmentation type bomb appeared to have been used, because extremely small pieces of shrapnel were extracted from victims’ wounds, and there were a large number of casualties. The Luang celebrations, lasting a week, are to commemorate the full moon on the twelfth month of the Buddhist calendar.
