LONDON. Nov. 1.
The former Leader of the House of Commons, Mr lain Macleod, was yesterday appointed editor of the weekly paper, the “Spectator.” Mr Macleod recently declined to accept office in the Cabinet formed by Sir Alec Douglas-Home. The “Spectator,” for many years a radical paper, has recently appeared to move to the Right.” •
It is owned by a 37-year-old Conservative, Mr lan Gilmour.
The “Spectator” greeted Sir Alec Douglas-Home’s appointment with a “mildly uncomplimentary article.” Mr Macleod, who is 50, graduated from Cambridge in 1935.
He is author of “Bridge Is An Easy Game.”
