DEFORMED INFANTS
Rural Haven To Be Built (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) STROUD (Gloucestershire), Oct 31.1 Thalidomide babies will be brought up to fend for themselves in a special village for handicapped children now being planned, “The Times” reports. The cost of the village and its equipment will be about £300,000. Children will be brought to live there from early childhood until they are ready to go out into the world. The village win accommodate 125 children. To be built in rural Gloucestershire the village will cater not only for thalidomide children but for those with similar deformities. It will have an equal number of orphans and children without normal homes. By mixing them in "families” it is hoped the children with each type of handicap will be stimulated to help each other.
