Man’s “Terrible Offence”
(NX Press Association) HASTINGS, October 31.lan Desmond Tucker, aged 38, a workman, of Hastings, was sent to gaol for 15 months when he came before Mr W. A. Harlow, S.M., for sentence on a charge of indecently assaulting a 72-year-old woman.
“It is true the probation officer found much in your favour, but this is a terrible offence,” toe Magistrate told Tucker.
"It shocks the public conscience that a poor old lady of 72 can be indecently assaulted by a man of 38. Surely she is entitled to as much protection as a girl of 13.”
