Caused Much Clucking
(Special Crjpdt. NJEF.A.) LONDON, October 31 The medical officer of health for the London
suburb of Hornsey, Dr. Hamilton Hogben. rays in hfe annual report that London health inspectors tackling slum living conditions have discovered people who keep live chickens tied to their bedposts.
They came across this practice while investigating overcrowding in the homes of immigrant families.
Now they are trying to persuade them to keep their chickens in the garden.
■’ Chickens are bought on Monday and secured to the bedpost by a piece of string round the leg until due for slaughter on Saturday,” rays Dr. Hogben. ’'That the practice Is Insanitary as well as crude isn't easily grasped by people who have been used to such habits.”
