Golf Final Between S. Africans

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MELBOURNE. October 29 The South Africans. D Kemp and J. Hayes, reached the final of the Australian amateur golf championship at Kingston Heath. Melbourne, today. It is the first time two overseas players have met for the title Kemp played magnificently to beat Australia's No. 1. K Donohoe, after a great battle, at the twenty-second. Hayes, who eliminated R B Shade (Britain). 3 and I. In a quarter-final, had a fine 4 and 3 win over S. Mackay (Queensland).

Rain Still Needed.—The ,23in of rain which fell in Christchurch and the lesser amount which fell in South Canterbury to midnight yesterday did little to alleviate the dry aoil conditions of the last few weeks, which have been drier than usual at this time of the year.
