Special Stamp Issue
To commemorate the official opening or December 3 of the Commonwealth cable, special 6d stamps are being issued by the New Zealand Post Office. The stamp, which is illustrated above, shows a cable encircling a globe at the left of the stamp, continuing across the bottom of the stamp to the right and upward to break
into five strands, each ending at a letter of the word “cable.” The background to the stamp is yellow, the globe and lettering except "cable” are red and the cable and the word “cable” are black. The stamp will be put on sale on December 3. and withdrawn on February 29 unless supplies are exhausted earlier.
