THE FASTEST TIME in the annual Bound Mount Egmont 100-mlle cycle race went to B. Spicer, of Ashburton, off scratch, who set a time of 4hr 12min 9see, about 7min outside the record time for the race. Spicer is shown receiving his trophy, the John Bull Challenge Cup. He also won £25 cash. There were 46 entries from all parts of New Zealand, and one from Australia.
