Conference Decisions Persons who derived a benefit from swimming clubs must ultimately be expected to pay for it, the annual conference <a the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association decided on Saturday. A remit from the Southland centre suggesting the abolition of the 2s affiliation fee for learner members received little support, and it was lost by a substantial margin. However, the conference decided to grant its council power to impose a levy for “special purposes” which would include games travel. Other Decisions Other decisions made by the conference after considering notices of motions included:— It was agreed to penalise any member, club or centre whose accounts remained unpaid after two months. South Island relays for the Stalag shields were abolished. The contests for the shields will now be held between Northern, Central. and Southern districts. This was decided because the North Island’s overwhelming strength was turning the events into processions.

At future national championships. additional finalists mav be named as emergencies and. according to times recorded in their heats, they may be admitted to the final should scratchings occur.
