£5000 Damage In Fire

(NX. Press Association) WANGANUI, October 27. Damage estimated at between £5OOO and £6OOO was caused when Chan Fung and Company’s grocery shop at Ohakune Junction caught fire at 5.10 p.m. today. The shop’s bulk store was gutted, and heavy smoke and water damage resulted to the rest of the premises. The owner of the shop, Mr E. Chan, arrived back from Taupo at 5.20 p.m. to find his business ablaze, and two engines from the Ohakune Volunteer Fire Brigade attacking the outbreak.
