Dry Month With only ,02in of rain recorded this month New Plymouth is likely to have its driest October for nearly a century. The lowest October rainfall on record for New Plymouth wu 1889—five years after recordings were first taken—when the figure for the month was .89in.— (PA.) Boat Show Sales Outdoor sporting equipment worth about £30,000 was sold at the New Zealand Boat Show in Christchurch last week, exhibitors reported yes- ’ terday. Many more thousands of pounds worth of goods were under negotiation, they said. Yesterday’s attendance ' at the show—374o persons—brought the number of speci tators to have seen exhibits and displays in the last nine days to 20,761. New Magazine A new faith healing magazine, “Light Within,” is being published by the Winchester Healing Fellowship, a world-wide spiritual healing fellowship with headquarters in England. There are several members of the fellowship in New Zealand. Scouts* Bus Tour Taking their own bus with them in the Aramoana, 14 scouts from the Mania-o-Roto district will tour the North Island during the Christmas holidays. Four scoutmasters will travel with the group. Leaving from Picton on December 27, they will make a round trip to Auckland and back. The party will return to Ashburton on January 11 after a tour of almost 30 centres. A day trip to Mount Egmont and tours of the Waltomo Caves and Lake Taupo will be features of the journey. Each scout earned his own fare of only £26.
