LIBERAL LEADER
Choice This Week-End (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct, 17. Mr R. M. Hutton-Potts,
farmer editor of the “Southland Daily News,” is expected to be chosen leader of the Liberal Party at the candidates’ conference of the party to be held in Hamilton on Saturday. Mr W. E. Christie, president of the party, said tonight the official position was that Mr Hutton-Potts had not yet acknowledged acceptance of a nomination for the party leadership. ' “However, live leadership will certainly be decided at the conference,” he said.
Mr Hutton-Potts will oppose the Attorney-General (Mr Hanan) for the Invercargill seat. A broadcasting commentator on internaitional affairs, Mr Hutton-Potts was a member of the 1956 Royal Commission on Monetary Affairs and last year was awarded the 0.8. E.
