West Melton Function
An afternoon tea attended by 60 former pupils from the Christchurch area marked the closing of the 93-year-old West Melton School. The school is to be demolished and replaced with a modern school Until the new building is ready, in about six months, pupils will attend classes in a prefabricated building, which has been shifted to West Melton Domain for this purpose. The West Melton .School, which celebrated its nijietysecond anniversary las* March, has served as one of four model schools (used for training primary school teachers) since April this year.
