Old Bailey Calendar
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, Sept. 10. The September session at the Old Bailey, which opened yesterday, is the biggest in history of the Criminal Court. The 1951 September calendar contained 151 names, and last year 374. The latest figure available for the present session is 360, but this is expected to increase considerably in the next few days. The calendar lists eight charges of murder, seven cases of men charged with causing death while driving, 80 of charges involving violence, wounding and assault, 32 of robbery with violence, 44 of robbery, 10 of blackmail, 60 of fraud, and 42 cases involving sex and indecency.
Indian Troops!— Three Indian divisions have been raised and more than 300 officers commissioned since China’s attack last October. Three more divisions are being formed. By the beginning of next year the army will have 8000 new officers. —London, September 10.
