Obituary
CANON E. B. MOORE (NZ. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Sept. 11. The Rev. Canon Ernest Blackwood Moore, vicar of St. Matthew's Church, Auckland. since 1946, died in Auckland tonight. He was 63 Canon Moore was born in Northern Ireland and educated in England at Dromore Cathedral School and the Royal Academical Institution He was a member of the 9th Irish Horse from 1916 to 1920 and served in Europe during the First World War. He was ordained a priest in 1921 at Nelson before his appointment as vicar of Granity Later he was vicar of Amun, in Canterbury, from 1928 to 1935, and then in several parishes in the Auckland diocese. Canon Moore was senior chaplain with the 2nd N.Z.E.F. until 1943. and in the same year became vicar of Ellershe. where he remained until his appointment to St Matthew’s. His wife died in April last year. They had no children.
