Women’s Hockey FINE WIN BY N.Z. GIRLS
English Team Beaten, 3-2 (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) TOWSON (Maryland), September 10. New Zealand's women’s hockey team turned on a sparkling display to beat the strong English team, 3-2, in the international tournament at Goucher College, Towson, yesterday. The New Zealanders always looked to be the better team but they could not score in the first half. After the interval New Zealand opened the scoring when Judy Doull received a perfect pass from Priscilla Forester, of Otago, and netted. New Zealand went further ahead a few minutes later when Judy McSkimming received a well directed pass from Judy Doull and scored. England’s inside-left, Pam Stinchoombe, reduced the lead, but a fine solo run by New Zealand's centre-for-ward, Maria Donnelly, put her team in front, 3-1. Seconds before the final bell. Stinchoombe scored again for England. The best players for New Zealand were Vai Bowden, of Auckland, and Priscilla Forrester. Results of other games today were: Scotland 7, Switzerland 0; Wales 4, Canada 0.
