Murder Attempt Alleged
(N.Z. Press Association) • AUCKLAND, Sept. 10. A 71-year-old man appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland today charged with attempting to murder Kenneth Malcolm McDonald at Wellsford yesterday. He is Mate Franich, a workman, who was remanded in custody until next Tuesday by Mr F. McCarthy, S.M. Senior Sergeant G. A. Dallow said Franich was arrested last night. He said he would oppose ba IL Asked by the Magistrate if he wished to apply for bail, Franich shrugged his shoulders and made no reply.
