MURDER CHARGE HEARING
More than 70 witnesses are expected to be called by the Crown in the Magistrate’s Court hearing at Nelson of the charge against Maurice Albert Davis, aged 31, a motor mechanic, of Christchurch, of murdering Peter Carthew Banham, a Nelson taxi driver, at Hope on February 20. The hearing is set down tor next Monday, and is expected to last the court’s five sitting days next week. Mr R. C. Savage, of Wellington. will appear tor the Crown, and Mr J. G. Leggat, of Christchurch, tor Davis. No overseas witnesses are expected to be called by the Crown in the lower court hearing.
