FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A westerly airstream covers New Zealand. A deep depression is moving eastwards across the south Tasman Sea. Forecast: Marlborough and Nelson.—North to north-west winds, strong about the Sounds, but elsewhere moderate to fresh. Fine at first, but cloud increasing; mild temperatures. Outlook: showers. Buller and Westland.—Moderate northerly to westerly winds; cloudy to overcast, with rain spreading from the south during the afternoon and evening; moderate temperatures. Outlook: occasional showers. Canterbury.—Light variable winds at first; north-westerlies developing, becoming strong in some inland areas; partly cloudy and warm. Outlook: occasional showers. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
