G.B.S. House For Sale

George Bernard Shaw’s London house in Fitzroy square, on the edge of Bloomsbury, has been put up for sale to be used as offices. It has been empty for nearly two years. The house was Shaw’s home from 1887 to 1898. He lived there with his mother and it was there he did most of his early political work as a member of the Fabian Society. He also wrote at least seven of his plays while living there among them “Candida,” “Widowers’ Houses” and "Arms and the Man.”— London, September 7.
