Salvation Army Youth Council
About 300 Salvation Army delegates were in Christchurch during the week-end for the annual Youth Council meeting of the Salvation Army in Canterbury and Westland. The programme, which was arranged under the direction of the divisional commander (Lieutenant Colonel A. Albisten) was organised by the Canterbury-Westland divisional youth officer (Captain B. McStay). A sports tournament in Hagley Park and a “modernemphesis evening” in the Citadel formed Saturday’s programme. Yesterday three sessions were held in the Jellicoe Hall. The chief secretary for New Zealand (Colonel A. B. Cook) and Mrs Cook, and the territorial youth secretary (Lieutenant Colonel E. Elliot) were among those who attended the meeting.
