CANADIAN VOYAGER
“Semi-Retired” At 30

The 42ft schooner Sea Wyf has arrived at Auckland from Vancouver. Her 30-year-old owner, a Canadian, Mr W. Rudolph, says he is semiretired at 30 “after working like heck and making a lot of money.” His crew are 21-year-old Canadian Virginia Cook and Teraimateata (Sky-Without-A-Cloud) Mara, also 21, from Tahiti.
Mr Rudolph said he had built and sold 40 boats and had not had a job for three yeans.
He built the ‘ Sea Wyf from Alaskan Cyprus and oak and sailed from Canada on a Pacific cruise 14 months ago. “The girls are good sailors and good cooks,” he said. “We plan to remain here three months and then return to Canada."
