’ Nevell Has Easy Win The current New Zealand champion, G. Nevell dominated the jump winning comfortably with a good leap of 60ft. when the Canterbury Winter Sports Club held its 1963 championships in conjunction with two open events the McLeod no-fall downhill and the Toni St. Elmo jump, at Mount Cheeseman. The McLeod no-fall downhill race proved a triumph for P. Willis, who recorded the fast time of 612 sec. The former Olympic champion. R. S. A. Chaffey was second in 63.1 sec. With a narrow win in the downhill championship and a second place behind Nevell in the slalom. Willis secured the combined championship. Nevell finished second.
