Church Bay To Have Pumps A temporary licence for two pumg« at the garage Church Bay Services, Ltd., was granted by the Motor Spirits Licensing Authority when an application by L L Ellison was heard. The licence will expire on August 31. 1964. The Authority comprises Mesere R. W. Edgley. H. L. Wise, and J. L. Hazlett There was evidence of a demand for petrol both from residents and holiday-makers, the Authority said. An application for a continuous retailer's licence for one pump at shop promises in Main rood, Dobson, was refused. A temtporary licence was granted for one year from September 1. 1963. An application by Roadhouse Services. Ltd., for a licence for two pumps at garage premises on the mein highway at Studholme was declined. lit appeared that the application was premature, the Authority Mid. The Chatham Islands Fishermen's Co-operative Association (Mr G. S. Brockett) was granted a licence to sell petrol from one pump at Owtnga and to make sales other than through a pump. The same strict tests required in New Zealand could not be applied to the Chatham Islands, the Autharity said. There were only eight private vehicles in the village requiring petrol from a pump, said Mr R. J. de Goldi, who appeared for H. Lanauze, who opposed the application. A licence for two pumps, to be installed at a shop and tearooms at Hans Bay, Lake Kaniere, was granted to A. J. Andrews. Mr H. W. Hunter appeared for the applicant.
