Inquiry By Magistrate (NJS. Press Association) PALM. NORTH, Aug. 27. Allegations at a recent meeting of the Constitutional Society that a boy had been beaten up to encourage him to make a statement at the Levin police station had their sequel in a magisterial inquiry at the Palmerston North Courthouse yesterday. Mr D. G. Sinclair, S.M., who presided, will furnish a report to the Commissioner of Police (Mr C. L. Spencer), Chief Superintendent A. G. Beal, of Wellington, and Superintendent E. W. Mahood, of Palmerston North, took part in the inquiry, which was instigated by the Police Department. Mr J. Meltzer, general secretary of the Police Association, appeared for the defendant member of the force, and Mr Winkle for the Police Department. \
