ELLESMERE MATCHES
Top Teams Both Lose Leeston and New Zealand Regiment A were unexpectedly beaten by Southbridge and Irwell in the second-to-last round of matches in the Ellesmere Rugby Sub-union's senior competition on Saturday. Before Saturday's game, Leeston and New Zealand Regiment A shared the lead In the competrtion. They have now been joined at the top by Southbridge. The last round of matches will be played next week-end. Points in the senior grade are: Southbridge. Leeston. New Zealand Regiment A 24. Dunsandel 18, Irwell 14, New Zealand Regiment B 12. Peninsula. Lincoln 10. Springston 0. Results of Saturday's matches were:— Senior.—lrwell 23, N.Z. Regiment A 16: Southbridge 22. Leeston 12; N.Z. Regiment B 33, Springston 6; Dunsandel 5, Lincoln 3. Third Grade—Waihora 15. Lincoln 3; Peninsula 9, Southbridge 0.
