Labour Out In Norway

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) OSLO, Aug. 25.

Mr John Lyng, leader of Norway’s Conservative Party, yesterday accepted the taek of forming a new coalition government to replace the Labour Government which has resigned after 28 years of virtually continuous rule.

After paying a short visit to King Olav, Mr Lyng, a judge, aged 58, said he would have his list of Ministers ready on Monday.

Mr Einer Gerhardsen submitted his Government’s resignation to the King and advised him to entrust Mr Lyng with forming a nonSocialist coalition. The Labour Government was defeated by 76 votes to 74 on a no-confidence motion last night after the Opposition had accused it of failing to increase safety at the Spitzbergen mines, where 21 miners died in an explosion last November. The new coalition government is expected to consist of five Conservatives, four from the Agrarian Party, three Liberals and three from the Christian People’s Party.
