The former lead to the B.E. (Electrical) degree and the latter to M.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons.) degrees in Physics and Radio Physics. The science degrees are acceptable for the examination part of the Associate Membership qualification of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London, and the New Zealand Institution of Engineers. These qualifications provide effective avenues for students aspiring to professional careers in radio, telephone, telegraph and electrical engineering. The bursaries are open to pupils leaving 1 post-primary schools and also to undergraduates who have completed parts or all of the Intermediate and First, or the Second Professional examinations of the Bachelor of Engineering degree or parts of the Bachelor of Science degree. Higher School Certificate is the preferred minimum standard for applicants. Special consideration is given to University Scholarship candidates. Those with University Entrance will also be considered. Post-graduate study is considered in special cases. Bursars will receive:— Subsistence allowance. Ist and 2nd years, £l5O living at home. £2OO living away from home. 3rd and 4th years, £2OO, £250 living way from home. Tuition and examination fees Book grant. Instruments. Certain travelling expenses. Short vacation leave. Long vacation work at normal salary rates. Part-time study facilities will be considered where appropriate.
