Queensland Age Tournament (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BRISBANE. August 21 Four members of the Auckland junior tennis team won their singles in the Queensland age championships at Brisbane yesterday. D. Cassidy and P. Shouter each won two singles matches. Cassidy later teamed with R Clarke (Australia) to win an under 16 doubles. Results (New Zealand names first) were:— Under 17 Girls.—P. Rogan beat L. Batten. 6-0, 6-0. Under 16 girls: B. Vercoe beat A Neville. 6-4. 6-3 Under 16 boys: P. Shouter beat F. Begin. 6-0. 6-1; Shouter beat G. Weatherhog, 6-1, 6-2: D. Cassidy beat W. Clarke. 6-0. 6-0; Cassidy beat S. Stratford. 6-0. 6-0. Under 16 boys' doubles: Cassidy and R. Clarke (Australia) beat R. Myles and W. Clarke (Australia). 6-2. 6-1. Under 18 girls' doubles: Miss Rogan and C. Bath (Australia) beat Miss Batten and L. Swadling (Australia), 6-1. 8-1. League Referee.— Mr E. Pilcher, of Wellington, will referee the final of the Rothman's £lOOO national Rugby League tournament between Linwood (Christchurch) and Southern (Auckland) at Carlaw Park on August 31. (PA.)
