B.A. Watt Returns To Canterbury Team
The AJI Black first five-eighths, B. A. Watt, who has not played since August 3 when he received concussion in a match against Southland, returns to the Canterbury team against MidCanterbury at Lancaster Park on Saturday. Watt is one of the five changes from the side convincingly beaten by Auckland last Saturday. The team was announced at a meeting of the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening.
Watt will replace W. F. McCormick, who was not a success against Auckland. McCormick will move back to his regular position at full-back. The New Brighton halfback, G. A. Stanley, replaces M. F. Whitta, and E. Veal, I. H. Penrose and J. Francis come into the pack in place of T. H. Moynihan, C. R. Hockley and A. Hopkinson, Moynihan and Hockley, however were not available for the match. The team is:—W. F. McCormick; P. H. Clarke, D. A. Arnold, W. M. Birtwhistle; R. C. Moreton, B. A. Watt; G. A. Stanley, I. H. Penrose, D. J. Graham, A. J. Stewart, J. Francis, N. G. Cornelius, J. M. Le Lievre, D. Young, E. Veal. Emergencies, M. F. Whitta, D. C. Leary, P. A. Hutchinson. L. Wainohu, J. N. Creighton, A. Hopkinson. Two Lincoln College senior reserve players, D. E. Elvidge and W. J. Thompson, have been included in the Canterbury B training squad. Three players, T. J. Morris. Q. T. Tapsell and B. A. Coulter, who played for Canterbury A last season also have been included.

McCaughan (Merivale), G. McConchie (Linwood), R. Morris (Christchurch), A. M. Holland (Linwood), M. J. Millar (Old Boys), D. Elvidge (Lincoln College). Training will be at Rugby Park at 10.30 a.m. on August 25. Players not available ring 60-403 or 45-872. —Advt. Maori Match The Canterbury Maori team will defend the Arepa Cup against a Marlborough Maori team at Christchurch on September 7. A letter from the Canterbury Maori Rugby committee said that it would not be able to pay the hotel expenses of ' the challenging team as had been done in the past. The letter added that in future teams challenging for the cup should pay their travelling and accommodation expenses.
