F.O.L.’s NEW OFFICERS
Mr T.E. Skinner President (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 20. Mr T. E. Skinner was elected unopposed as president of the Federation of Labour today. Mr J. E. Napier, secretary of Hie North Island Watersiders’ Union, was elected unopposed as vice-president of the federation. Mr F. Langley, national secretary of the Carpenters’ Union, won the vacant place on the F.O.L. national council in tile first ballot from two other candidates, Mr W. McDonnall. an Otago national councillor and Mr J. Herlihy, secretary of the Cooks’ and Stewards’ Union. Mr Skinner had been act-ing-president of the federation since the death of Mr F. P. Walsh in May. He had been vice-president since 1959.
Meat Talks.— Delegates from Australia, New Zealand and the United States will attend a conference in Queensland next month to discuss the beef trade among their countries.—Sydney, August 20.
