SEQUEL TO SHOOTING
Manslaughter Charge (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU. Aug. 20. Trevor John McKeever, aged 19, a merchandise clerk, of Timaru, appeared in the Magistrate's Court this afternoon on a charge of manslaughter in connexion with the death of Kevin Russell Denley. Messrs W S Minehan and M. J H. Bruorton, Justices of the Peace, remanded him on bail until September 4. The Press Association said the Court sitting lasted less than two minutes Denley. aged 21, died from a bullet wound in the premises of Dalgety and New Zealand Loan, Ltd., at Timaru on Friday about 11.45 a.m About half an hour later the owner of the rifle. Frank Shields, aged 52, was found dead in a motor-car in Centennial Park with a rifle alongside his body. The police said he was not in any way responsible for Denley’s death.
