128 Feared Dead (N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) NEW YORK, Aug. 18. A total of 128 persons are feared to have perished in Saturday's sinking of the Okinawan ferry, the Midiri Maru, authorities said today, the Associated Press reported from Naha, Okinawa.
Revised figures issued by the Okinawa police had 13 known dead and 115 unaccounted for, more than 30 hours after the 300-ton ship capsized and sank a few miles west of Naha. Police said the ferry carried a total of 271 persons, including a 15-man crew. Two persons were reported rescued during the day, raising the number of known survivors to 143.
