IMPORTS BY JAPAN
(NZ.P.A.-Reuter—Copy rig ht) TOKYO, August 19 The Tokyo Menka Company, a leading Japanese trading firm, sand today it had signed contracts with several mutton dealers in Australia to import 2000 tons of mutton worth about £A325.000. The amount to be contracted by the end of the year will reach 12,000 tons, the company said. Japan has so tar imported mutton mainly from New Zealand. The sharp increase in Japan’s imports of Australian mutton is attributed to active Australian efforts to sell more mutton with moderate prices, the company said.
