Sitmar Fleet Addition
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 18. The Fairstar, latest addition to the Sitmar fleet, will leave Southampton on her maiden voyage just before Christmas. It is not yet known whether New Zealand will be included in the itinerary of her maiden voyage, but she is expected to call here on subsequent trips. Formerly the British troop carrier Oxfordshire, built in 1957, the Fairstar is at present being converted into a one-class passenger liner at Rotterdam at a cost of more than £3 million. She will carry about 1690 passengers, and more than 450 of the 500 cabins will be equipped with private shower and toilet.
