Soccer CUP TEAM ACCEPTS
Top N.Z. Side For Chch. The leading New Zealand soccer club, North Shore, of Auckland, finalists in both of this season's national competitions—Chatham Cup and Rothmans has accepted terms to play in Christchurch on Sunday. September 1. Mr V. Smith, of Technical Old Boys, whose club has negotiated the visit, said yesterday evening: “North Shore will be the best side to play in Christchurch since ’Tom Finney’s English team.” North Shore will meet a Technical Invitation XI on the day after its Chatham Cup final against the South Island champions. Nomads, at Bacin Reserve, Wellington The Auckland team plays its Rothmans tournament national final against Dunedin Technical Old Boys at Auckland today. The Technical club plans to strengthen its side with Canterbury players from other local clubs It has been given permission to fly to Christchurch any players in the provincial team playing the return Jones Cup fixture with Otago at Dunedin on the previous day who accept an invitation to play against North Shore.
The Auckland team will travel to Christchurch overnight from Wellington with the Nomads team, and will fly home to Auckland after the game.
